Anyone who works in an age discrimination workplace can find legal relief from these unfair practices. Many employers and employees do not understand the laws in this area. However, the Age Discrimination Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) can provide the protection they need. It prohibits age discrimination against anyone over 40 in a company with 20 or more employees. It covers hiring and firing, promotions and benefits, as well as pensions. Anyone who believes they work in such an age discrimination workplace may file a claim with their state agency or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
