Disability Discrimination

Discrimination against those with disabilities can occur in many different ways. The most obvious cases include discrimination in employment opportunities, within the housing market, or when accessing public facilities. Another less obvious form of disability discrimination is the failure of an employer to promote disabled employees within the company. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) suggests that positions within a company should be evaluated for compatibility with disabled workers' abilities and recommends that business owners consider disabled workers for promotions. The EOCC encourages employees to be flexible and consider restructuring jobs and modifying work schedules to assist disabled employees.
