Disability Employment Discrimination

Many disabled individuals face disability employment discrimination when searching for work. Under the protection of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), disabled individuals are granted the right of employment opportunities and employers are required to accommodate, within reason, the unique needs of a disabled employee. However, employers do not always adhere to the requirements of the ADA. Individuals interested in knowing their rights as protected under the law can find information provided by the government by calling the Americans with Disabilities Act Information Line at 1-800-514-0301. Complaints concerning violations of the ADA can be filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Thousands of complaints are filed every year, and as a result, more opportunities and better access for the disabled has been achieved in many communities.
