Though much has been done to right the wrongs of the past, racial discrimination against black individuals is not necessarily a thing of the past. However, there are currently many laws that forbid this type of discrimination. According to the laws of most countries, discrimination of any person based on their race or other characteristic. In the United States, the Civil Rights Act prohibits discrimination from occurring in any setting, including employment, housing, education, and lending. Each of these settings may also have there own laws, such as the Equal Pay Act, concerning employment, and the Fair housing Act, which prohibits racial discrimination in housing. In employment, for example, a black person cannot be denied a position at a company because of their race. The only exception making discrimination against black persons legal is in the event of a business-related concern, such as the a disease held throughout the race that limits a person's ability to function in their job. Conversely, there are also laws in the United States that prohibit discrimination against white individuals, including protection against excessive affirmative action.
