Discrimination Against Muslims

Discrimination against Muslims is a form of religious discrimination that affects individuals of the Muslim religion. In this form of religious discrimination, individuals are treated unfairly on the basis of religion, being Muslim. In the United States, any type of religious discrimination, including discrimination against Muslims, violates not only federal legislation, but clashes with the United States constitution also. The first amendment in the US constitution requires that all citizens are given the right to religious freedoms. Additionally, the government has passed a range of legislations throughout the years governing religious discrimination. According to these laws, such as the Fair Housing Act and Title VII, it is illegal for religious discrimination to occur in employment, housing, education, lending, or many other settings where a person can be inappropriately denied an opportunity. Outside of religious discrimination, discrimination against Muslims can sometimes be affected by race discrimination as well, due to the fact that Arab-Americans are often generalized as Muslim.
