Gender Discrimination Law

For men and women alike, discrimination based on gender can present a serious problem. Although discrimination is mostly common in the workplace, it can occur virtually anywhere, and in a various ways, damaging those who have been discriminated against. Fortunately, this type of discrimination, as well as many others, are unlawful according to discrimination laws. More specifically, gender discrimination law prohibits an individual or group from discriminating against an individual because of their sex, whether male or female. Not only does gender discrimination law exist in federal legislation, many local laws have been created concerning gender discrimination in employment, education, housing, and loans. Under some situations, however, such as an employer needing a female employee to manage a dressing room, gender discrimination can be legal. If a person has been discriminated against because of their gender, they can take legal action by consulting with a lawyer or discrimination agency.
