Housing Discrimination Complaint

During the housing process, landlords may sometimes discriminate against their tenants. According to the law, however, this type of discrimination, called housing discrimination, is unlawful and may even result in legal ramifications. As a tenant, it is important that you take the proper actions if you have been a victim of housing discrimination. To begin, tenants can choose to file a housing discrimination complaint. Cases can then be filed with your local fair housing office, which are usually located in each state. Complains can be filed in three ways - via telephone, email, or by the Internet. When the complaint is received, the office will process it before requesting additional information from the tenant. If the office believes there may have been a real violation, investigation will continue, and a lawsuit or other form of reconciliation will usually follow.
