Individuals who have been treated unfairly based on their race are victims of racial discrimination. America has historically been a place where racism is a problem, but the laws have now established very explicit guidelines barring this type of discrimination. Above state and local laws, federal legislation governs the unlawfulness of race discrimination in America - the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Credit Opportunity, the Fair Housing Act, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, among others. Of all the federal laws, the Civil Rights Act is usually regarded as the predominant ruling, as it defines racial discrimination in its entirety as illegal. According to the Civil Rights Act, race discrimination of any kind is prohibited in virtually any other setting.
