Racial Discrimination Workplace

Racial discrimination in the workplace has proved itself as a significant issue throughout the years. As an employer, it is unlawful for you to base any jobs decisions you make on the race of an employee. This includes anything involved in the employment process, beginning at hiring. When hiring employees, race cannot be a factor in selection. It is also important that the salary given to an employee is not biased due to the employee's race. These laws are defined in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which states that it is illegal for an employee to discrimination on race, religion sex, origin, or color. This piece of legislation applies to any companies with more than 15 employees. Even after hiring, employers are also prohibited from discriminating based on race - denying promotion, classifying workers, or otherwise harassing based on race is unlawful. For employees, it is essential that you use the racial discrimination workplace laws to protect yourself. After experiencing racial discrimination in the workplace, you can consult with the Equal Employment Importunity Commission to file a complaint, and can follow the complaint with a lawsuit to be compensated, if necessary
