Religious Discrimination Law

Since the early days of America, religious discrimination laws have prohibited religious discrimination - the act of treating a person unfairly on the basis the the religion they practice. Under the United States Constitution, the first amendment grants citizens with religious freedoms. Federal legislation the last bi-century has also been made to offer further protection form religious discrimination. In Education, US law makes it illegal to deny a student equal educational opportunity because of their religion. Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts prohibits religious discrimination as well as other forms of discrimination concerning employment, which may extend to hiring, salary, or harassment. In a similar manner, the Fair Housing Act states that housing must be provided to citizens without any type of discrimination, including that of a religious nature. Religious discrimination law may also be provided in each state or local municipality.
