Sex And Discrimination

Sex and discrimination has been known to go hand in hand throughout history, but just like other forms of discrimination, discriminatory actions based on a person's sex are now quite illegal. Not only does discrimination violate the US constitution, there are also many laws concerning specific practices such as housing and employment. In housing, for example, it has been made illegal for a provider to deny housing simply because of a person's sex, whether male or female, except in a roommate arrangement, where it may sometimes be legal. A similar law applies in employment, as employers cannot deny or terminate a person of an employment opportunity because of their sex, unless, for example, a woman needing to be hired for a female dressing room. According to the law, if a person has been discriminated against based on their sex, they have the right to take legal action, which may or may not offer monetary damages.
