Women's Discrimination

Women's discrimination, a type of gender discrimination, is a practice that involves discrimination of a woman because of her sex. The most common places where women's discrimination occurs are employment, education, housing, and lending. Regardless of the setting in which it occurs, women's discrimination violates United States discrimination laws. These laws, which may appear both federally and locally, prohibit women's discrimination at any level, unless there is a valid justification for doing so.

In employment, an employer may unlawfully discriminate against a woman by asking discriminatory questions during an interview, denying a position, terminating employment, or otherwise harassing a female employee because of her sex. Women's discrimination in education tends to be less severe, usually involving a woman being unlawfully excluded from an opportunity in education, such as a sports team, group, or scholarship. Housing and financial women's discrimination can occur when a woman is denied housing or loan because of their gender.
