I believe I was fired because I am too old to portray the “fresh” look the company is going for. Do I have any recourse?
My boss fired me from my job after six years of gainful employment as a sales representative. I’ve never been reprimanded or disciplined in any way and I have always been one of the top sellers in my office. My boss told me that the company was trying to “freshen” its look to attract younger customers. I believe he fired me because he thought I was too old to portray the “fresh” look he was going for. Do I have any recourse?

Hiring an employment discrimination lawyer may be necessary you truly believe that you were fired based on your age. US civil rights law makes it illegal for an employer to discriminate based solely protected classifications, such as age. Once the discrimination occurs, you should file a lawsuit as soon as possible for the best possibility of getting a favorable outcome.
A civil rights attorney can help you file a lawsuit with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. A successful age discrimination lawsuit must show that the type of discrimination that occurred is actually covered under the applicable laws. Once the kind of discrimination is decided, in this case it would be age discrimination; the facts must be stated with particularity. You should contact a civil rights attorney in your area for a consultation to discuss your rights.
